Una Europa One Health Summer School 2024

The University of Nairobi is excited to announce the opportunity for two of our doctoral researchers to participate in the prestigious Una Europa One Health Summer School hosted by the University of Helsinki, Finland. This interdisciplinary program is designed to enhance understanding and application of the One Health concept, emphasizing the interconnectedness of human, animal, and environmental Health.

Program Details:

  • Location: University of Helsinki, Lammi Biological Research Station, Finland.
  • Dates: June 24th to June 28th, 2024.
  • Includes field excursions, practical research experiences, interdisciplinary sessions &networking opportunities.
  • Cost: Tuition, accommodation, and catering are provided free of charge. Selected students receive a scholarship of 1,800 euros for travel and living expenses.

Eligibility:

  • Open to doctoral researchers from One Health disciplines at the UoN
  • Must be currently working towards their PhD
  • Must have published at least One relevant paper in a peer-reviewed journal.


Application Requirements:

  • Proof of PhD enrollment at the University of Nairobi.
  • Two letters of recommendation, with at least one from your PhD supervisor.
  • A personal statement (max 500 words) detailing your research interests, how they align with One Health concepts, and your career goals.
  • A Curriculum Vitae (CV) showcasing your academic and professional achievements.


Selection Criteria:

  • Demonstrated interest and alignment with One Health concepts and research areas.
  • Academic excellence and the potential impact of the program on your research.
  • Clear articulation of research interests and career goals in relation to One Health.
