Exciting Internship Opportunity for MSc Students!
The Department of Medical Microbiology and Immunology at the University of Nairobi, in collaboration with the Department of Medical Microbiology and Infectious Diseases at the University of Manitoba, is pleased to announce a 1-Year Internship Opportunity under the prestigious Building Capacity for Disease Interventions (BCDI) Program.

Position: 1-Year Internship in Medical Microbiology and Infectious Diseases
Location: University of Manitoba, Winnipeg, Canada
Duration: 1 Year


Eligibility Requirements:

  • Enrollment: Must be enrolled in the MSc program at the Department of Medical Microbiology and Immunology, University of Nairobi.
  • Academic Standing: Must have completed at least the first year of the MSc program with a strong academic record
  • Research Experience: Prior research experience in medical microbiology, infectious diseases,
  • immunology, or related fields is required. This includes lab work, research assistantships, or participation in relevant research projects.
  • Technical Skills: Familiarity with laboratory techniques relevant to the offered research projects, such as PCR, flow cytometry, microbiological assays, or bioinformatics tools.
  • Proficiency in English: Must demonstrate proficiency in English, as the internship will be conducted in an English-speaking environment.
  • Motivation and Career Goals: A clear demonstration of how the internship aligns with the candidate’s long term career goals, particularly in advancing expertise in medical microbiology research
  • Recommendation Letters: Two strong letters of recommendation from academic or research supervisors who can attest to the candidate’s suitability for the internship, including their academic performance, research capabilities, and potential for contributing to the field.
  • Personal Qualities: Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team, problem-solving skills, adaptability and a proactive approach to learning and research.
