Call for Mentors: One Health Early Career Champions

Apply now! Call for Mentors: One Health Early Career Champions

We invite you to join the One Health Early Career Champions (ECC) Program as a mentor to support talented doctoral researchers from Kenya and Finland. This program unites accomplished early career researchers and academics from the University of Nairobi and the University of Helsinki.

The program's thematic focus encompasses One Health research areas such as virology, antimicrobial resistance, food, and nutrition. We welcome participants from all disciplinary backgrounds, provided that you can demonstrate how your research aligns with the One Health theme. Please be prepared to justify your approach in your application.

The One Health Early Career Champions Program fosters a strategic partnership between the two universities, facilitating the career growth and networking of emerging doctoral researchers from diverse disciplines with a focus on One Health. Building on the success of the 2021-2022 pilot, this program continues the tradition of empowering early career champions.

Selected mentors will guide two mentees, one from each university, from May 2023 to December 2024. As a mentor, you will participate in regular mentee-mentor sessions, monthly seminars, and four workshops (two online and two on-site in Nairobi and Helsinki). The ECC program will cover travel costs for a limited number of participants. Please note that all program events will occur during regular office hours (9 AM to 5 PM), and the expected workload for mentors is 4-6 hours per month, excluding July and August.

By participating as a mentor, you will:

• Engage and support future champions

• Share knowledge and expertise

• Expand your professional network

The selection of mentors will consider a diverse range of research fields, the applicants' eagerness to participate in program activities actively, and their commitment to fostering the career growth of mentees. You can find more information about the program on the following website:
