The African Advanced Vaccinology Course (Afro-ADVAC)

James Kang'ethe, a PhD scholar in the Department of Medical Microbiology and Immunology at the University of Nairobi, recently attended the African Advanced Vaccinology Course (Afro-ADVAC) held in Muldersdrift, Gauteng, South Africa. James, a CARTA cohort 10 fellow, participated in the course between April 17 - 26, 2023.

Postgraduate Alumni Joins LSTM Researchers in Receiving International TB Collaboration Award

Dr Esto Bahizire, a postgraduate alumni in the Department of Medical Microbiology and Immunology, is part of a team of researchers at Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine (LSTM) who recently received the prestigious Dorothy Temple Cross International TB Collaboration award.

AFrIBOP 2022 Course

PhD Scholar Matrona Akiso recently attended the (AfrIBOP) Course in Malawi. This was a one week course on African Immunology of Parasites, Pathogens, and Pathogenesis (AfrIBOP) followed by another week of flow cytometry/bioinformatics training. The immunology course entailed talks and immunology lectures from well-known researchers from University of Glasgow, Malawi Liverpool Wellcome Programme, KEMRI Wellcome Trust and Kamuzu University of Health Sciences.

African Immunobiology of Parasites, Pathogens, and Pathogenesis 2022

PhD Scholar, Ms Matrona Akiso is attending the 2022 African ImmunoBiology of Parasites, Pathogens, and Pathogenesis #afribop2022  meeting in Malawi. In this meeting, they will critically discuss the various interaction between the immune system and pathogens and how this underlies the pathogenesis of a wide range of infectious and non-communicable diseases.

The participants will also benefit from grant writing, science communication and career-mentoring sessions.
