The 70th University of Nairobi Graduation Ceremony was held on Friday 15th December, 2023 starting at 7:00AM with over 5,700 students graduating. Among those graduations, the Department of Medical Microbiology would like to congratulate the following students:
1. Dr. Kenneth Omollo for his PhD in Medical Microbiology where his research centered around the impact of hormonal contraception on peripheral and muscosal immunity.
2. Dr. Josephat Muema for his PhD in Tropical and Infectious Diseases where his research focused on preventing acute malnutrition in women and children through livestock interventions in Northern Kenya.
3. Dr. Emily Nyariki of the Department of Global and Public Health for her PhD in Implementation Science where her research centered on volunteers' perceptions and experiences of clinical research participation in Kenya.
The Department would also like to congratulate the 10 students who obtained a Masters in Medical Microbiology and the 8 students who obtained a Masters in Tropical and Infectious Diseases.
Speaking of the the Department's achievements in this graduation ceremony, Chair of the Department Dr. Marianne Mureithi stated, "I am very proud of all our students individual achievements and their contribution to our department. Our department is focused on producing students well equipped for academia or industry and have done impactful research that benefit the region and inform policy. I wish the students the best in their future endeavours and look forward to seeing them excel in their careers."
