Kenya has taken another step forward in the fight against HIV/AIDS by appointing Professor Walter Jaoko to the HIV and AIDS Tribunal. Professor Jaoko is a renowned medical researcher with vast experience in medical microbiology and immunology.

Prof. Jaoko honoured for role in fight against HIV/AIDS

Member of the Department & Director KAVI-Institute of Clinical Research Prof. Walter Jaoko was one of the ten individuals who were honoured at the Ten out of Ten (10/10) Awards held at the House of Lords in the Palace of Westminster, London on 9th September, 2019.

The Ten out of Ten Awards aims at facilitating an important conversation about the intersection that must converge in order to meet the UN targets of globally ending all new HIV diagnosis by 2030.

Department Member Selected to be Member of the Kenya National Innovation Agency Board

Department member Prof. Omu Anzala has been selected to be a member of the Kenya National Innovation Agency Board.

In the Gazette Notice No. 437 Under the Science Technology and Innovation Act, Prof. Anzala was selected along with other academics by the Cabinet Secretary of Education Prof. George Magoha.

Department Member Awarded Outstanding Achiever Award during UoN@50 Awards

Member of the Department of Medical Microbiology and Director of KAVI-Institute of Clinical Research Prof. Walter Jaoko won the Outstanding Achiever Award at the UoN@50 Awards.

Prof. Jaoko was recognised for his role in the establishment of KAVI-Institute of Clinical Research and his pioneering work in HIV/AIDS clinical research and vaccine initiatives

Department Wins at The University of Nairobi Staff Awards

It was all smiles as the Department of Microbiology and Immunology celebrated outstanding performance in the University of Nairobi staff awards.

The Department emerged the as the best overall performing unit and best performing teaching department in the performance contracting awards category.

The Chair of the Department Dr. Marianne Mureithi thanked all the staff, students and the collaborating partners for making the Department shine.
