Kenya has taken another step forward in the fight against HIV/AIDS by appointing Professor Walter Jaoko to the HIV and AIDS Tribunal. Professor Jaoko is a renowned medical researcher with vast experience in medical microbiology and immunology.

Recently, Walter Jaoko, a Professor of Medicine in the Department of Medical Microbiology and Immunology and the KAVI-ICR Director of Research, participated in the KBC Breakfast Show to discuss the emergence of new vectors in the fight against malaria. The breakfast show, hosted by Nick Ndeda, was an opportunity for the experts to shed light on the latest developments in malaria research and the challenges facing efforts to combat this deadly disease.

Veterinarian, epidemiologist and PhD Student Veronicah Mbaire Chuchu recently wrote an article for The Nation on the infectious disease rabies.
In the article, Dr. Chuchu emphasises the importance of a coordinated effort from the government, private sector and the community in the control and eradication of the disease. She highlighted vaccines which are still the most successful public health intervention of all time and can be used for both animals and humans to stop rabies spread.
