Virology and Prions

The thematic unit of Virology and Molecular Biology deals with viral infections and the molecular techniques used for the diagnosis of infectious diseases. The thematic unit of Virology and Molecular Biology deals with viral infections and the molecular techniques used for the diagnosis of infectious diseases.  The main areas of research include HIV/AIDS, Herpes simplex virus, Newly Emerging Viruses such as SARS-COV-2, Ebola, Chikungunya etc and Hepatitis, infection. This thematic unit is also leading in the One-Health Research where the team is investigating pathogens at the human-animal interface with potential to course outbreaks, early warning signs of animal pathogen that have the potential to spill over to humans & surveillance and identifying novel biomarkers and antigens with potential for development of diagnostics, drugs and vaccines.  Faculty members teaching in this unit include:
