The Department of Medical Microbiology & Immunology is hosting a joint webinar with KAVI-Institute of Clinical Research on In situ Imaging Analysis - A Tool for Mapping Human Mucosal HIV Entry Mechanisms by visit PhD Student Mathias Franzen Boger from the Department of Medicine Solna, Karolinska Institutet, Sweden.

Chair of the Department Dr. Marianne Mureithi recently attended the Falling Walls Female Science Talents International Spring Gathering 2022 in Berlin, Germany.
Chair of the Department Dr. Marianne Mureithi will be part of a team taking part in the Race for Daraja, an annual event to support girls' education in Kenya. This tradition started in 2009 when the first students and supporters of Daraja ran simultaneously to fundraise for Daraja Academy.

Life 4 Kids provides homes for homeless and abandoned boys in Nairobi providing for their emotional, physical and educational needs
Member of the Department Prof. Walter Jaoko announced the commencement of a HIV Vaccine Trial. Individuals within the trial will one dose of the vaccine and one booster four weeks after.

Member of the Department Prof. Walter Jaoko was featured on The Star where he spoke on why the COVID-19 Omicron variant may actually be a good news.
He highlighted how the variant did not as appear to be as lethal as Delta but aired on the side of caution due to current unknowns. The full article can be read here
Veterinarian, epidemiologist and PhD Student Veronicah Mbaire Chuchu recently wrote an article for The Nation on the infectious disease rabies.
In the article, Dr. Chuchu emphasises the importance of a coordinated effort from the government, private sector and the community in the control and eradication of the disease. She highlighted vaccines which are still the most successful public health intervention of all time and can be used for both animals and humans to stop rabies spread.
