Dr. Omosa-Manyonyi wins IAVI grant on Capacity Building for Scientific Manuscript Writing

Dr. Omosa, a lecturer in the Department of Medical Microbiology and Clinical Researcher, KAVI – ICR, UoN has been awarded a grant by IAVI to establish a scientific manuscript writing program at the College of Health Sciences, University of Nairobi.  

IAVI is a nonprofit scientific research organization that develops vaccines and antibodies for emerging infectious and neglected diseases. The organization translates scientific discoveries into affordable and globally accessible public health solutions.

The program will train mentors (UoN faculty and researchers) in scientific writing to serve as future faculty for the training program and train postgraduate students at UoN, College of Health Sciences and regional researchers in scientific manuscript writing.

Dr. Omosa, the program’s PI, has been involved in research and clinical trials for over 15 years providing pragmatic leadership, training and mentorship to members of staff and students. Prof. Walter Jaoko, Professor of Medical Microbiology and Tropical Medicine, Department of Medical Microbiology and Director KAVI-ICR, Dr. Marianne Mureithi, acting Chair, Department of Medical Microbiology and Moses Musyoki, an early career researcher and a PhD (Medical Microbiology) fellow who was nominated by the department to train as a mentor will be among the researchers who will participate in the program.
