oin us for a special webinar on Evolution of the Regulon for AlgT or Sigma 22: Role in Biofilm and potential Implications in Disease by Prof. Sonal Malhotra.
Prof. Malhotra earned a Ph.D. from the University of Tennessee at Memphis, USA, under the mentorship of the late Dr. Dennis Ohman. His doctoral research focused on the regulon of the alternative sigma factor AlgT (also known as Sigma 22), utilizing proteomic techniques to explore its regulatory mechanisms. Following this, he developed a keen interest in disulfide bond isomerases, leading him to clone and characterize DsbA proteins across various bacterial species.
He has held the position of Associate Professor at both Addis Ababa Science and Technology University and AKFA University in Tashkent, Uzbekistan (now Central Asian University). In addition to his teaching roles, he designed microbiology, virology, and public health courses for the James Lind Institute. Currently, Prof. Malhotra serves as a Professor of Practice at Gujarat University in Ahmedabad, where he is part of the DVIKAR department, focusing on the validation of Indic knowledge through advanced research. He is actively developing his research program in this capacity.
