This interdisciplinary program is designed to enhance understanding and application of the One Health concept, emphasizing the interconnectedness of human, animal, and environmental Health.

The University of Nairobi, in partnership with the Istituto Superiore di Sanità (ISS) and Sapienza University of Rome, invites applications for the prestigious Italy-Africa Research Doctorates Initiative. This opportunity aims to promote a new leadership in scientific research across Africa and foster collaborative research between Italy and Africa, with a focus on advances in infectious diseases microbiology and public health sciences.

The Department of Medical Microbiology and Immunology, under the esteemed leadership of Chair Dr. Marianne Mureithi, in collaboration with the KAVI-Institute of Clinical Research, proudly hosted the Early Career Champions (ECC) programme from January 29th to February 2nd. This innovative initiative marks a significant milestone in the journey towards integrating One Health principles into the fabric of global health research and policy.

Chancellor Patrick Verkooijen of the University of Nairobi embarked on his inaugural visit to the the Faculty of Health Sciences. During his time there, he engaged with faculty staff and students.  

The University of Nairobi (UoN) and the University of Manitoba (UM) are celebrating a groundbreaking international collaboration as they secure the prestigious Canadian International Development Scholarship 2030 (BCDI 2030) grant. This collaboration promises to empower African students with fully funded opportunities to pioneer medical microbiology and infectious diseases research.

Nairobi, October 11, 2023 - The University of Nairobi’s esteemed Department of Medical Microbiology and Immunology commenced its academic year 2023-2024 with an enriching orientation program, welcoming a new batch of postgraduate students. The multi-day event was meticulously planned to integrate the newcomers into the department’s culture, ethos, and academic rigour.
