Hellen Kariuki, a Doctoral student in the Department of Medical Microbiology and Immunology carried out a a sensitisation community meeting at Rabai, Ruruma, Kasidi Ward and Mawemambomu Ward in Kilifi County.
She is investigating the effects “Female genital schistosomiasis and HIV infection: “The effects of Schistosoma haematobium on α4β7expression among Kenyan women.”
Members of the Department Prof. Omu Anzala and Dr. Marianne Mureithi were featured on The Daily Nation's Health Segment where they discussed the challenges of the HIV Vaccine Trials and what researchers have learnt from it.
Member of the Department of Medical Microbiology and Director of KAVI-Institute of Clinical Research Prof. Walter Jaoko won the Outstanding Achiever Award at the UoN@50 Awards.
Prof. Jaoko was recognised for his role in the establishment of KAVI-Institute of Clinical Research and his pioneering work in HIV/AIDS clinical research and vaccine initiatives
