KAVI-Institute of Clinical Research (KAVI-ICR) was awarded the 2022 International AIDS Vaccine Initiative (IAVI) External Quality Assessment (EQA) Awards For Tier 1 and Tier 2. This is the second year running that the Institute has won this prestigious award. It recognises the best performing laboratories amongst their Clinical Research Centres in Africa. The Institute at the University of Nairobi, KNH Campus was first among Tier 1 and the Kangemi site among Tier 2.

Department Doctoral Student Featured on The Lancet

Department of Medical Microbiology & Immunology Doctoral Student Dr. Athman Mwatondo's work was recently published in the prestigious journal The Lancet. Dr. Mwatondo is a Medical Epidemiologist working for the Ministry of Health in Kenya. He obtained his medical degree from the University of Nairobi and MSc in Applied Epidemiology from Jomo Kenyatta University.
