University of Nairobi 70th Graduation Ceremony

The 70th University of Nairobi Graduation Ceremony was held on Friday 15th December, 2023 starting at 7:00AM with over 5,700 students graduating. Among those graduations, the Department of Medical Microbiology would like to congratulate the following students:

1. Dr. Kenneth Omollo for his PhD in Medical Microbiology where his research centered around the impact of hormonal contraception on peripheral and muscosal immunity.

Department of Medical Microbiology & Immunology PhD student in Clinical Research and Ophthalmologist Dr. Oscar Onyango has been selected to be the Principal Investigator (PI) in the Elevatum Study sponsored by Genentech, a member of the Roche Group.

The University of Nairobi celebrates a new milestone in academic leadership and scientific research. Prof. Julius Oyugi is elevated to the distinguished rank of Full Professor at the Department of Medical Microbiology and Immunology. Prof. Oyugi, who also serves as the director of the University of Nairobi Institute of Tropical and Infectious Diseases (UNITID), has been instrumental in propelling the institution to new heights in virology and infectious diseases.
